Homemade Granola

Granola has to be one of my favourite breakfast go-tos. The combination of a little kefir along with the addition of fresh fruit is a great way to start the day.  The homemade granola recipe below is a simple and tasty that can easily be adapted to whatever nuts and dried fruit you like… the options are endless! This recipe makes about 12 servings, so get ready to share the goodness with your family or friends.granola

 

 

Homemade Granola
 
Ingredients
  • 1 cup slivered almonds, toasted*
  • ¾ cup uncooked quinoa, rinsed well to remove
  • 1 cup flaked coconut
  • ½ cup honey or agave
  • 2½ cups rolled oats
  • ¾ teaspoon cinnamon
  • ¼ cup almond or vegetable oil
  • 2 Tbsp ground flax
  • 2 tbsp chia seeds
Instructions
  1. Combine toasted almonds with oats, quinoa, coconut and cinnamon, flax and chia seeds. Blend honey with oil and drizzle over almond-oat mixture, tossing to mix well. Bake in oven at 350 degrees, 20 minutes, or until golden brown, stirring occasionally Remove from oven; loosen with spatula; cool.
